Judith Elaine Van Cleve's Obituary
Judith Elaine Van Cleve passed away at 76 years old on December 12, 2025, after a brave battle with breast cancer. Judy was born in Houston, TX where she lived most of her life until settling in Pearland, TX in 1997. There she shared a beautiful home on a little lake with her husband, Dr. Kurt Bohren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Mamie Denton, and siblings Bobby Lee Denton, Doris Dille, and Marilyn Folmar and is survived by siblings Dorothy Ables, Gerald Denton, Sandra Sullivan, and Gary Denton; as well as her daughter, Aimée Van Cleve McCurtain; grandsons, Jacob, Kaleb, and Gabriel McCurtain; and husband, Kurt.
A fighter, Judy survived two types of breast cancers over a 28-year period, until it was discovered in Spring 2024 that the cancer from 1997 had metastasized on her liver. After another fierce battle that lasted well over a year, and included numerous treatments, her body was too weak to fight any longer.
In life, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, spending time with friends and family, caring for others, and her cats, but her pride and joy was her daughter and her three grandsons whom she adored. She had a successful career in public relations and media for close to 50 years and made many friendships along the way. Judy will be remembered by many for her kindness, intelligence, creativity, passion, and strength of character.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway Pearland, TX 77581, on March 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or the Humane Society of Houston.
