Karen Elizabeth Sampson's Obituary
Karen Elizabeth Williams Sampson, 67, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021. Karen was born in McAllen, Texas on November 20, 1953. She moved to Houston, Texas when she was in the 7th grade and graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1972. She was employed by Southwestern Bell phone company for ten years before joining the Houston Police Department in 1982. While she was working as a patrol officer, she met her husband, of 37 years, Michael L. Sampson. Karen was extremely passionate about and proud to be a Houston Police Officer. She enjoyed working with the Vice Squad, so much so that her daughter proudly followed in her footsteps.
Karen was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She never missed her daughters school parties, sporting events, graduations or major milestones. Karen enjoyed sewing and she enjoyed crafts of every kind. She made clothes and hair bows for her girls and she always made sure that they matched. Karen was known to go above and beyond for her children’s birthday celebrations, she knew just how to make others feel special and that they were a priority. Karen also loved hosting baby and bridal showers, family parties, and holiday celebrations. In her spare time Karen enjoyed baking, gardening, and watching Aggie football games. Karen was an animal lover, she cherished her grand dogs and especially her beloved, Daisy. Karen loved decorating, design, and especially fashion. She loved to dress in the latest fashions, and she always made sure her hair and makeup were done. She was a beauty. Karen will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Karen is preceded in death by her father, J.V. Williams. Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Mildred Montgomery; loving husband, Mike Sampson; daughters Kasey Sampson, Kaitlyn Sampson Wise and husband, Bradley, Madison O’Brien, Krystal O’Brien; brother, Jerry Williams and wife, Julie; sisters Debbie Slate and husband, Dennis, Patty Clifton and husband, Michael; granddaughters Riley and Chloe Rose and Amelia O’Brien. Nephews Daniel Williams and Brad Hall. Nieces Jessica and Elizabeth Williams, Stephanie Hall, Shelby Miller, Kellie Hall, Morgan Temple, Katrina Butler, Sarah Clifton; and a host of many other family and friends.
Services for Karen will be held at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at 11:00am, with Pastor Jim Liberatore officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery, in Pearland, Texas.
