To the entire Becan & McBride Family,
Kathy was one of my closest colleagues for over 40 years. I just realized that 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of our first published book together. We were co-authors for many other textbooks and educational materials. Until recently she was still brainstorming with me about another possible project. She was a wonderful person to work with because we trusted each other, and she was honest, organized, and productive as we completed many of our projects over the years. I used called her the “energizer bunny” because of her unbounded energy and strength. When we had timelines for completion of our manuscripts, she would always finish first and more efficiently than anyone I knew. We laughed at ourselves and our lives on many occasions and shared the good with the bad. Her strength during the past few years was unsurpassed. Even when she was receiving therapy, and I happened to visit with her, we would laugh together about the silliest things in the face of her illness. She always had a smile on her face. I already miss my visits with her more than I can say and I will never forget her. She was also an exceptional person in our field of medical laboratory science and I believe I can speak for other colleagues who knew her, that she was indeed a remarkable person devoted to the field and will be missed by all.
