Kevin Thomas Hays, the son of retired La Porte Independent School District Superintendent Dick and wife Sandy Hays, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 in San Antonio.
Kevin, 39, was a 1988 graduate of La Porte High School, as was his wife, the former Robin Roth. He had moved to La Porte in 1984, and attended La Porte Junior High before entering LPHS.
Both Kevin and Robin attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. They were married December 28, 1991, and had been living in San Antonio for the past several years, where Kevin was South Texas Sales Manager for Whirlpool.
Besides his mother and father, who now live in Morgan’s Point, and his wife Robin, Kevin is survived by his two sons, Stefan, 14, and Ashton, 10; his brother and sister-in-law, Hunter and Diana Hays of Dallas; Robin’s parents, Max and Elyshia Roth of Galveston; Robin’s sister and her husband, Leigh Anne and Ben Hill and their children Thomas and Caleigh Hill, of Houston; and Robin’s brother and his wife, Lisa and Jason Roth and their daughter Elyshia, also of Houston.
Kevin was an avid hunter who took his sons on hunting trips at least twice each month. He also coached their youth baseball teams for years. He was a loving husband to Robin and a devoted father to Stefan and Ashton.
Services were held in San Antonio this past Saturday, and a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at the First United Methodist Church of La Porte, 9601 Fairmont Parkway.
