View Tribute Book Larry Douglas Ables, 66, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents Carrie Lagroue and Elgin C. Ables, and brother, Walter Ables. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 36 years Pam Ables; son, Mitchell Tull; daughters, Casey Ables, Angie Ables, Paige Ables; brother, Sonny Ables and wife, Gladys; niece and nephew, Mindi Floyd, Bryan Ables and wife, Tina; granddaughter, Riley Ables and a host of many other family and dear friends.Larry was an avid bowler, throwing a 300 game on May 13, 1988. Serendipitously, on that exact day, 28 years later, his granddaughter, Riley, was born. He was a devoted softball coach and umpire. He was the best short order breakfast cook, grilled cheese sandwich maker and BBQ chicken griller. Larry was many things, he was a cheeseburger connoisseur, history buff, trivia genius, amateur film critic, shuffleboard champion, and most importantly, a rock and roll aficionado. He was an avid fan of Houston sports teams, and was most proud of his 2017 World Series Champion Houston Astros. To know Larry was to love Larry, and no phrase summarized him better than Popeye’s “I yam, what I yam.” He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.A visitation for Larry will be held at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581, on Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.The family wishes for all those that knew him to gather for a highlight of the music that shaped the life of Larry Douglas Ables on Saturday, May 19, 2018, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm at The Gardens, 12001 Beamer Rd, Houston, Tx, 77089.
