View Tribute Book Leonard Alcala Hernandez, 89, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tomas and Cruz Hernandez; his loving wife, Ursula B. Hernandez; son, Leonard Hernandez Jr.; brother, Raymond Hernandez; sisters, Otilia Calderon, Marie Hererra, and Josephine Gonzalez. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Evelyn E. Hernandez; grandchildren, Elizabeth Christine Hernandez Schiro, Vincent Joseph Schiro III; great granddaughter, Rosalie Marissa Annerino; and a host of other family and dear friends. Leonard was a proud American that believed in God and Country as he served his country for 27 years in the United States Army. He joined the Army and was stationed in Germany where he met Ursula. Leonard was transferred to Korea but went back to Germany and married Ursula. He was part of the occupied Germany and Japan, he fought in Korea and he had several tours of Vietnam. Public service was important to him and he worked for the US Postal Service until his retirement in 2003. Leonard enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He loved traveling to Las Vegas and to Mexico on trips with Ursula. Leonard will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services for Leonard will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 pm with the funeral service starting at 2:00 pm. Following the service, interment will take place at Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland, Texas.
