Lesia Remy's Obituary
We remember and celebrate the life of a daughter, sister, cousin, niece, and friend. Lesia
Remy, affectionately known as Hermine, was born on the island of Saint Lucia on
November 18, 1975, to her mother, Lucia Swanson, and her father, the late Gregory Remy.
She was the eldest of nine siblings and was mostly raised by her late grandparents, Julie
and George Sumra.
In 2001, when her mother, stepdad, and youngest sister, Curlin, moved to the
United States Lesia stayed back in Saint Lucia for a short while. During this time, she lived
with her aunt Ursula Prudhomme. In 2008, Lesia moved to the United States to be
reunited with her family in Houston, Texas, where she would live until her passing.
She briefly attended the Dunnottar School in Saint Lucia and was associated with
Friends of Down Syndrome—a school in Houston serving the needs of those with Down’s
syndrome. She enjoyed performing chores, listening to music, watching comedies, and
spending quality time with her relatives.
On Wednesday, January 19, after a short illness, she passed away peacefully. She
was predeceased by her brother Howard Remy. Lesia will be remembered for her sense
of humor, her love for dancing, and her easy way with life.
