View Tribute Book Leticia “Lety” Favela passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family in Houston, Texas, on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 72. She is proceeded in death by her father, Zeferino Favela and survived by her mother, Delia Favela; her loving daughters, Tania Jones-Schmidt and husband, Erich, Adria Jones-Norris and husband Tony; grandsons Adrian and Jaiden Flores; brother Javier Favela, wife Silvia and family; sister Edna Favela Buenrostro and family; extended family and friends who loved her deeply.Lety was born and raised in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. After getting married, she moved to Maryland in 1974 and began working at Preston Trucking Company. Two years later she relocated to Houston, Texas, a city that would become her true home.Lety was a proud alumna of the University of Houston, where she earned a degree in Accounting from the College of Business. Although she began her career in a different field, she ultimately found her calling in education. She dedicated 26 years to teaching at Lewis Elementary, where she was honored as Teacher of the Year on three separate occasions. Lety took immense pride in her students’ growth and success, and she found deep joy in nurturing young minds.After retiring, she embraced life fully, spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, and traveling. Her favorite destination was Greece, where she cherished visiting her dear friend Marta. She had a passion for live music, dancing, and was always ready for the next adventure.Another one of Lety’s great joys was gardening. She had a true green thumb and natural talent for helping plants thrive, and her home was filled with vibrant greenery, a reflection of her nurturing spirit.Lety had a profound love for her family and embraced each day with purpose and joy. She gave generously of her time and resources, always ready to help those in need. With love, humility, and compassion, she touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on everyone she met.After a courageous and hard-fought battle with breast cancer, Lety left this world with the same strength and grace that defined her life. She faced every challenge with resilience and a smile, never losing her spirit.She will be missed more than words can express, but her loved ones find comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain and is finally at peace.
