Doug was one of the most kind men I have had the chance to call my friend. I will miss our chats about how to fix everything and the great time we had at my shop. He will never be forgotten.

A VERY old childhood friend. We were next door neighbors on Eighth Street when I was in elementary school. He and his brother Kenny played with me and my sisters....cops and robbers....cowboys and Indians. His brother, Kenny, was what we used to call "pumping" me on his bike one day and I got my foot caught in the spokes of the bike. Tore my foot up pretty good and Kenny felt so bad. Saw this sad notice this morning and it took me waaaaaay back to my early childhood. Haven't seen or talked to these boys in many, many, many years. Our families eventually moved to different places and we lost contact. Sad to see this.....the memories are happy. I look at this picture and remember him as a little boy. My sincere condolences to the family. God bless each of you with peace and comfort.
I counted Doug as a friend and fellow Christian. We spent close to 20 years as ushers in the back of both church buildings providing some security to the folks attending services. I was shocked to hear of his hospitalization and his decline. I will miss him but I know one day I will see him again.

Bryan I am so sorry for you and your families loss. Your father was always so nice when I would run into him from time to time around La Porte. He always remembered me and your mom as well. You and all your family will be in my families prayers buddy.
