Hernandez, 85, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Lucy was born on May 27, 1937, in Vanderbilt, Texas. She was the third of eleven children born to Silvestre and Romanita Ramirez.Lucy attended Vanderbilt. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting her she was a character. She loved her music, her beer, and she loved to dance. Lucy had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready with a comeback. She will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved her.Lucy is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Guadalupe Hernandez; her baby girl Christina Cortines; brothers Johnny Ramirez, Alfred Ramirez; and sister Minnie Allen. She is survived by her loving daughter Ernestine (Tina) Buentello and husband, Joe; son Alfred Cortines; brothers Sylvester Ramirez Jr. and wife, Frances, Fernando Ramirez and wife, Maria, Lino Ramirez and wife, Patricia; sisters Ramona Reyna, Susie Soto and husband, Bicente, Lydia Cardona and husband, Juan, Elva Perez and husband, Manuel; grandchildren Moses Buentello, Justin Buentello, Alfred Cortines, Anthony Cortines, Lisa Marie Cortines, and numerous nieces and nephews. An extremely special thank you to our sweet cousin Yvette Reyna, there are no words to express our gratitude for your support and devoted care that you provided for our mother.Services for Lucy will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas. The visitation is scheduled from 10:00 – 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Deacon David Bowman officiating.
