Genedine Maria "Gene" Ladera-Andres' Obituary
Genedine “Gene” Maria Ladera-Andres, 56, passed away April 29, 2016. She is survived by her parents, Agustin and Clarita; her loving and dedicated husband of 25 years, Jhune; brothers – Clarence; Christopher and wife, Imelda; Gerard Noel and wife, Emma; Augustus and wife, Lorie; sister – Easter and husband, Thanh; nieces and nephews – Claire and husband, Benjamin; Zoriel; Vincent; Blaze; Sabrina; Queennie and husband, Jason; Yva, Jan Kristoffer, Lauren and Laurence; grandnephews – Kean and Marcus; brothers-in-law – Nicanor and Ronald; sisters-in-law – Edita and husband, Jack; Mona and husband, John; Rhodora and husband, Reynato; and a host of other family and friends.
Gene was born in Sagada and grew up in Baguio City, Philippines. She started her nursing studies at St. Louis University in Baguio and finished it at Angeles University Foundation in Angeles City, Pampanga, where she first met her future husband Jhune. She first worked at the Philippine Heart Center for Asia then for a few years in Kuwait’s Al-Jahra Hospital before moving to Houston, Texas in 1988. She was a devoted and caring person who worked for over 23 years as a registered nurse at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital. Gene had an amazing sense of humor and contagious smile, positively affecting the lives of her patients and coworkers. She loved to travel, host parties, and spend time with her family. During her battle with cancer, she showed insurmountable strength and fighting spirit, serving as an enormous inspiration to everyone around her. After 27 years in Houston, Gene was able to make her first and final trip back to the Philippines to visit her family. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Visitations and Rosaries for Gene will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm and Friday, May 6, 2016 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral mass will take place Saturday, May 6, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 6502 County Road 48, Manvel, Texas 77578 with Father Arnel Barrameda officiating.
