View Tribute Book Mary Katherine (Kay) Holland, 95, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017. She was born in Beaumont, Texas on September 9, 1921 to Thomas Florey Holland and Fannie Belle (Cain) Holland. Kay was the oldest sibling of four born to Tom and Fannie Belle. Her siblings included Tom F. Holland, Joe C. Holland, and Sarah F. Holland (Kindla), and step-brother, Terrell S. Holland.After graduating from high school in Beaumont, Kay attended and completed business school in Beaumont affording her the opportunity to immediately secure a position at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. After working at the Pentagon for a short period of time, Kay was missing Texas and returned to Houston. Kay then began her 38-year career with Gulf Pipeline Company (known as Gulf Oil/Chevron). Kay enjoyed traveling, she was able to visit exotic places as Mexico in the 60’s and China and Russia in the 70’s. After retiring from Gulf, Kay kept busy by continuing to bowl as she did for many years on the Gulf bowling team. Kay also worked as a temporary at Chevron with her co-workers for a time after her official retirement. During her retirement years, Kay was a nanny to a number of lucky kiddos and had the opportunity to do a little more traveling with them and their families. Kay had no children of her own, but had a number of nieces and nephews whom loved her very much. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.Services for Kay will be held Monday, February 27, 2017 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will take place from 5:00 until 7:00 pm with the funeral service following beginning at 7:00 pm with Rev. Greg Funderburk officiating. Interment will take place Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler Texas.
