Mary "Susie" Koza's Obituary
Mary “Susie” Paulette Koza passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Anne Alvarez; and brother, Joe Alvarez. Left to cherish Susie’s memory are her loving husband, of 53 years, Jerry Koza; sons, Jerry Koza Jr. and wife, Kim, Jeff Koza and wife, Tiffany; Sister-in-law, Sandy Alvarez; grandchildren, Nicole, Collin, Jake, Elizabeth Koza, and a host of other dear family and friends.
Susie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family and was very involved in her community. She was strong in her faith and an active member of St. Helen’s Church. Susie was a past Officer of the Tri County Republican Women, past Director for the Texas Federation Republican Women, and a past Board Member of two local banks. Susie enjoyed volunteering at Christian Helping Hands, and she was instrumental in the early development of the Pearland Silverlake Lions Club. Susie supported several local charities, including the Adult Reading Center and Christian Helping Hands, as well as several local charity scholarships. She was also a member of the Exotic Wildlife Association.
Susie grew up in Houston and graduated from Jessie H. Jones High School. She remained throughout her lifetime in the Houston Area. While raising her children, Susie was active in the PTA, Boy Scouts, and Little League. Susie was an avid reader, she especially enjoyed history. Susie also loved opportunities to travel with friends, and then later in life with her beloved grandchildren. Susie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation service will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas. A Eulogy will be shared at 6:30. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm, on Friday, March 19, 2021, at St. Helen’s Catholic Church, in Pearland, Texas.
