Michael A. Rose's Obituary
Mike was born on November 26, 1945, to Emma Lee Kerr Rose and William Blair Rose in Houston, Texas and departed this Earthly life on May 11, 2026, at the age of 80. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Mike was a graduate of Milby High School and was in pre-med when he decided that golf was his greatest passion! He got his pro golf card while on the mini tour in Florida. He returned to Houston and was an assistant pro at Clear Lake Country Club for several years. He became a club manager at Pharaoh’s Country Club in Corpus Christi, TX, Red Mountain Ranch Country Club and Resort in Phoenix AZ, Palestine Country Club in Palestine, TX and De Cordova Country Club in Granary, TX. One of his most memorable golf stories was when he took a group of players to a pro/am in Marbella, Spain. His group won every category there was to win, plus witnessing his dad’s first hole-in-one, and, needless to say, they enjoyed those bragging rights for many a year!! Upon Mike’s retirement, he returned to Houston where he continued to enjoy the golf game, University of Kentucky basketball and football, Houston Astros baseball, Houston Texans football, and an occasional trip to Coushatta Casino!
He was predeceased by his mother, Emma, and father, Bill, nephew “Billy" Beltz, and great-niece, Evelyn Dean Rickabaugh. He is survived by his sister, Lizabeth (Libby) Rose Beltz, brother-in-law, Douglas A Beltz, both of Friendswood, TX; nieces, Ashlee Beltz and Blair Beltz Rickabaugh and her husband, David L. Rickabaugh, and great-nieces Lily Rickabaugh and Caroline Rickabaugh all of The Woodlands, TX and many other relatives and friends in Texas and Kentucky.
There will be a graveside service at Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Kentucky at a date to be determined. To honor Mike, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the COPD Foundation.
