Michael Akin Yonter's Obituary
Michael Yonter was born in Ankara, Turkey, on September 1, 1937. In 1962, he graduated with a Bachelors in Engineering from the Middle East Technical University and married his first wife, Yeshim in 1963. They were blessed with two sons, Serhat and Ediz.
The family ultimately settled in Houston, Texas in 1975. Mike received his MBA in finance from the University of Houston. Yeshim began the nonprofit charity, Cancer survivor’s fund in 1999 and upon her passing in 2008, Mike continued the Charity’s mission and vision.
Mike and Anna Levina met in 2009. The discovered mutual interest and love bloomed. The married in June 2013 and enjoyed traveling, symphonies and the arts. Mike was an avid reader, with a book or kindle constantly in his hands. He was passionate about politics and delighted in conversation.
Mike is preceded in death by his late wife, Yeshim and eldest son, Serhat. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Anna; step-sister, Fatos; son, Ediz and wife, Simge; step-daughter, Maria; step-son, Pavel and wife, Maren and grandchildren, Nicholas, Victoria, Rose, Alisa, Daniel, Suzanna and Jacob.
