Myrtle L. Moore's Obituary
Myrtle L. Moore was born May 7, 1939 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to the late proud and loving parents, DeForest Menefee and Lois F. Menefee. With the blessing of being raised in a loving christian home Myrtle at an early age united with the Greater Bell Zion Baptist Church located in LaMarque, Texas under the leadership of the late Rev. Wiley L. Dunn.
Myrtle received her formal education from the E.J. Campbell School in Nacogdoches, Texas and LaMarque, Galveston County, Texas. She graduated from Lincoln High School, LaMarque, Texas in 1957. She was also a graduate of Prairie View A&M University and the University Of Houston where she received degrees in Business Administration/Business Education and Accounting. She also graduated from the Houston School of Insurance where she received numerous certificates in the field of insurance.
Mrs. Moore was employed with the Texas Southern Insurance Agency, Inc. as an Administrative Assistant for twenty-nine years. She was also employed with the Harris County Sheriff's Office for seventeen years. She also taught high school in the Galena Park Independent School District and college with the International Business College.
Mrs. Moore was also Recording Secretary for the Crestmont Park Civic Association for sixteen years. During that time she received various awards and certificates from the association for continuous dedicated service to the community.
Myrtle L. Moore was united in Matrimony to Johnny A. Moore on July 6, 1968. To this union a son was born, Jerry G. Moore.
Mrs. Moore united with the St. Agnes Missionary Baptist Church in 1969 under the leadership of Apostle Gene A. Moore, Sr. When she passed away she was a member of the Pearland Christian Community Church that is also under the leadership of Apostle Gene A. Moore, Sr. She also served as the leader of the Women's Ministry and a Sunday School Teacher.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories two sons, Jerry G. Moore (LaCosta) of Corpus Christi, Texas and Harold Battle (Debra) of Dallas, Texas. Joyce F. Menefee, sister of Friendswood, Texas. Two brothers Donald Ray and Larry W. Menefee and a sister Geraldine proceeded her in death. She also leaves a host of other family members and friends.
