She is preceded in death by her parents McKinley and Mary Roy; brothers Audry Frederick, Clifton, Paul, Albert, and Donald Roy; sisters Stella Sassau, Renella, Ezola, and Jacqueline Roy, Theresa Preston, Lucille Pittman, and Tammy Meyers. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Dave Broussard, Elton Roy; daughter Jacqueline Broussard; sister Catherine Harris; grandchildren Starr, Jacques, Evangeline, Elijah; great grandchildren Alijah, Mason, Seige, Shannon - one on the way, and a host of many other family and friends.Nola was truly the matriarch of her family. She was a strong and beautiful soul with a deep-rooted faith and love for her family. She had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. Her demeanor was a bright beacon of love and wisdom to all she encountered. She loved listening to music and dancing, however her favorite past time was going to the casinos. Nola loved to travel and take vacations. She was an extremely great cook and known for Nola’s Creole Café and her award-winning Gumbo. She was loved by so many. Nola cherished her family, and her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. Her life was truly a testament to the beauty of a life lived with purpose and love and her spirit will live on in the lives of everyone she touched.Services for Nola will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, at St. John Baptist Church, 2702 Emancipation Ave, in Houston, Texas. Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 – 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, with Pastor Terrance Grant Malone officiating.
