Nuvia Estel Green's Obituary
Nuvia Estel Green, lovingly known as Gloria Grayson “Glo” and affectionately called “Auntie Tica,” passed away on April 6, 2026. She was born on March 6, 1962, in Colón, Panama. She was a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and a true warrior. Known to many as Glo or Nueva Green, she carried many names, but her presence was singular and unforgettable.
Nuvia’s life was one of movement, evolution, and impact. After immigrating to the United States as a young child, she was raised between Brooklyn, New York and Houston, Texas. As a young adult, she expanded her journey to Los Angeles, California, and later spent time in New York, New Jersey, and Oklahoma. Her final days were spent in Houston and Galveston, Texas.
Nuvia is survived by her only son, Nathaniel, whom she considered her greatest accomplishment. She often shared that she would not be here if not for him. Despite facing many of life’s challenges on her own, she gave everything she had to raise him with strength, independence, and purpose. She not only built a strong foundation for him but also created a supportive village around him, ensuring he was guided, encouraged, and equipped to become the best version of himself.
Their bond was deep, intentional, and rooted in unconditional love. Nathaniel cherishes the time they spent together most—moments when she would step away from work to be fully present, playing video games and simply enjoying each other’s company. Her love for computers, her technical talents, and her passion for reggae music live on through him.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elvia, and her sister, Francis. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Summer, Autumn, and Josiah; her daughter-in-law, Angela; her sisters, Yvette and Ana; and her beloved nieces and nephews, Brittney, Briana, Gavin, Elisse, and Xander.
Nuvia’s character was nothing short of extraordinary. She was innovative, creative, and a true genius. A jack of all trades who embraced life fully while remaining perfectly imperfect. She was a lover of music, culture, and expression, with a spirit that was both vibrant and deeply intuitive. Her personality was strong, unique, and unforgettable. She could be headstrong and at times a bit blunt, but she was always genuine, real, and full of life. She had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and supported, always showing up for those she loved.
A visionary ahead of her time, Nuvia was entirely self-taught in many of her talents. She built and designed websites, programmed, illustrated, and created with a level of skill that reflected both brilliance and dedication. She graduated high school at just 16 years old, a testament to her intelligence and drive. Long before technology became mainstream in the
way it is today, she was already thinking, building, and innovating at a level far beyond her time. Her influence extended deeply into the music industry. She was a co-founder of VIP Records and contributed to the reggae scene through festivals, radio broadcasts, and community engagement. She had a deep love for reggae music and played a role in cultivating and promoting the culture. Her work in entertainment included managing artists, organizing events, and creating spaces where music and people could come together.
Nuvia lived life on her own terms. She loved music in all its forms, from soca, calypso, reggae, and salsa to artists like Phil Collins. She loved to dance, laugh, entertain, and bring people together. She found joy in the little things, good food, good music, and meaningful time with family.
To those closest to her, especially her sisters, she was constant, reliable, protective, and unwavering. She was someone you could always count on, someone who would always have your back no matter what.
In her later years, after suffering a stroke, it was difficult to witness the limitations placed on someone who had once lived so freely and fiercely. Yet even in those moments, her strength remained evident.
Nuvia Estel Green lived boldly, loved deeply, and left a legacy rooted in strength, resilience, creativity, and love. She taught those around her to know their worth, to fight for themselves, and to cherish time with the people they love.
Her presence was powerful. Her impact is lasting. She will always be remembered, and she will always be deeply loved.
