View Tribute Book Pamela Moak Evatt, born in Andalusia, Alabama, raised in Gadsden, Alabama and a longtime resident of Houston, Texas, passed into the peace of our Lord on August 17, 2017 after a long struggle with a sudden critical illness. She is survived by her husband, Garvin T. "G.T." Evatt, two sons, Andrew Joseph Moak (Katherine) and Jonathan David Moak (Jessica), two daughters, Rebekah Moak Welch (Westley), Sarah Katharine Carpenter (Clint); her grandchildren, Ann Tillery, Thomas, Walker, Jackson, Maeve, Barrett and SarahAddison. She is also survived by G.T.'s children, Steven (Adine), Bill (Kim) and Susann Evatt; G.T.'s grandchildren, Tyler, Allison, Andrew, Sam, Emily and Liam; her brother, James Tipton, her sister, Angela Jeffers (Rick), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.Committed to academic discipline and excellence, Mrs. Evatt was a 1965 graduate of Gadsden High School. She attended Judson College in Marion, Alabama on a full academic scholarship and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English in three years. She pursued post-graduate work at the University of Mississippi and obtained a Masters in Sociology. Mrs. Evatt devoted her entire life to the care of other people, whether raising her family in Jackson, Mississippi, affecting the lives of countless students during her long educational career, or doting on her grandchildren during her peaceful final years. Her devotion to her family was excelled only by her Christian faith, and followed in life only by her passion for the University of Alabama, and her avid travels with her husband, G.T. She loved many, was loved by many, and will be forever missed by those whose lives she touched. Mrs. Evatt was preceded in death by her cherished father and mother, Joe and Addie Tipton of Gadsden, Alabama, and her beloved older brother, Billy Tipton (Paula). In recognition of her devotion and service to others, Mrs. Evatt’s family requests donations to Samaritan's Purse in lieu of flowers. A service in Mrs. Evatt’s memory will be held at First Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at 2:00 P.M.
