Phillip was born on April 21, 1953, in Big Creek, Mississippi, and was raised in Winona, Mississippi, a place he proudly called home. In the early 1980’s, Phillip moved to Southeast Texas where he built a life defined by hard work and dedication to his career.
In 1989, Phillip married the love of his life, Marilynn Hedt. Together they shared nearly four decades of marriage and welcomed their daughter, Emily Havens, in 1996. Family was at the center of Phillip's life, and he took great pride in being a supportive husband and father.
Phillip started his career as an equipment operator and pipe fitter before advancing into piping superintendent and construction supervisor roles. He worked for Fluor for over 40 years along with various other companies.
A passionate supporter of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Phillip began serving on the Rodeo Express Committee during its inception in 1990. After 20 years of service, he earned his Lifetime Committeeman status recognizing his commitment and hard work. He also served on the Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo Parade Committee for a number of years. Phillip was a member of the Pasadena Masonic Lodge #1155 A.F.&A.M. and a member of New Hope Church in Manvel.

Though he never sought recognition, he earned the respect and admiration of those around him through his character and commitment to his family, friends, and community. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A private memorial service for close family and friends will be held to celebrate Phillip's life and honor his memory.
