Rachel was a wonderful person whom you could always count on. I had the honor and privilege to serve with her on the La Porte School Board where she was a very strong advocate for the district's employees and students. I'll always have warm memories of Rachel for all that she did for others and for insights that she shared with me regarding the education profession.
Mrs. Hampton is the one teacher, that no matter how many I've had, was the best. I'm 38 now, and I had her as a language arts teacher at Lomax Elementary in the late 80's. I still remember the sound of her voice as she read countless stories to us. She is the reason that I teach today. She will be forever loved, and my heart goes out to her family and loved ones. Heaven gained a wonderfully amazing woman.
