Ralph Adrian Hoeting's Obituary
Ralph Adrian Hoeting passed away in Houston, Texas, on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, at the age of 86. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Lois Hoeting; brother, Jimmy Hoeting; and sisters, Betty Lou Schulle and June Hoeting. Ralph is survived by his wife Dorothy (Dot), to whom he was married for nearly 62 years. Additionally, he is survived by his son, Mark Hoeting and wife Jennifer; daughter, Janet Hoeting Stevens and husband Andy; grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew; and a host of many other family and friends.
Ralph lived his life grounded in a deep and abiding Christian faith, not only in belief but in action. For more than 20 years, he faithfully visited the sick and elderly every Thursday, offering companionship, comfort, and kindness. His life was a quiet testament to a Christ-like walk. Marked by humility, compassion, and unwavering service.
Ralph was known for his optimism and his enduring belief in the goodness of people. He approached life with a spirit of hope and encouragement that touched all who knew him.
A lifelong student of history, Ralph had a special passion for the Texas War for Independence and actively participated in museum reenactments of its defining battles. In his study of history he remained an active member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas until his passing. His love of aviation history was equally strong and closely tied to his enjoyment of remote-control airplanes, a hobby that brought him great joy.
Additionally, Ralph was an avid violinist for 20+ years. He frequently performed at re-enactments as well as at nursing homes and schools. His practicing was a staple of beloved annoyance for his wife as he consistently strived to improve his skill.
The love of canoeing, kayaking, gardening, and astronomy were other of his many interests of which he enjoyed sharing and teaching others about.
Above all, he was a devoted father to his children, Mark and Janet. He guided and supported them throughout their lives, never ceasing in his role as a father while also becoming a trusted friend. Through his example, he became a mentor to many, demonstrating what it means to live as a devoted husband, father, and friend.
Ralph leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Funeral services for Ralph will be held at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland on Thursday, May 7th, 2026. Ralph’s family will receive guests during a visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, with the service commencing at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow the service at South Park Cemetery.
