Lopez Jr. was born on January 21, 1934, in Karnes City, Texas. Despite only having a sixth-grade education, he left school early to support his family. At 24, Ramon enlisted in the Army, serving honorably for two years.In 1959, he married Bonnie Salas, and together they raised six children: Sylvia Lopez Rodríguez (deceased), Tony Lopez, Nora Ann Lopez, Larry Keith Lopez, Timothy Ray Lopez (deceased), and John Raymond Lopez.Ramon began his career at Brown and Root as a laborer, eventually working his way up to Rigging Superintendent over a distinguished 35-year tenure. His dedication to his craft was evident through his leadership and the successful installation of millions of tons of equipment across numerous facilities in the Houston area and beyond.Outside of work, Ramon was a passionate sports fan, with a particular fondness for the Dallas Cowboys.Ramon passed away on August 4, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and family. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.Services for Ramon: Visitation Thursday August 8 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. at the Clayton Funeral Home Chapel 201 S 3rd St. in La Porte. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday August 9, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church 916 Park in La Porte, with interment at the La Porte Cemetery.
