Richard Skotak was a wonderful man – funny, warm, outgoing, intelligent and a good friend. It was evident for all to see how much he loved and adored Sylvia. My wife Jayna and I always enjoyed seeing them together and laughing with them! He was a great storyteller – you could always count on Richard to have a great story that was funny and insightful. He knew people wherever he went.
It was an honor to serve alongside Richard in the Brazoria County Municipal Utility District #6. I saw him in those meetings as we all did: a positive force for our community, doing all he could to move the Silverlake area forward to the great place to live it is today. I first met Richard through Sylvia on the homeowners’ association, and they both helped us feel welcomed into the community.
Richard held a wealth of information about the history of Silverlake and Brazoria County, testament to his devotion to our area. He was a key supporter of the Clarence Sasser Park from the beginning, and he continued to monitor the Park and suggest improvements to it up to and during this last month’s Board meeting. His legacy will continue through the countless good works and efforts he made to make our area a safe and welcoming place to live.
