Miss you every day.
Rita was the first of our neighbors to welcome us next door. Our children thought of her as an honarary grandmother. She will be missed greatly. Her smile, her laughter and oh so many stories about life and the lessons to be learned from it.
Thinking of Rita, I first hear her laughter and then see her smile. I never recall anything but a smile on her face, except when she was in the kitchen and then it was a face of serious concentration. It was evident to all how much she adored "her boys" and how in love she and Merrill were even decades on. I thought she was so much fun when we visited them in White Sands, NM in the late 50's or early 60's when we were all much younger and she encouraged us to run & play and seemed tickled by our chance to roll down dunes and get sandy, gritty, dirty, exhausted and delightedly topsy turvey, no worries for tidiness~ it was wonderful. She was full of life and such a nice person even to us little people. I can see the photos in my mind, wish I had them to share today.
To sweet Georgia Brown Rita, the Yellow Rose of Texas (we can hear Merrill singing, arms open wide). In loving memory our prayers sent to each of you
I was too young to remember, but the story told every time my parents got together with Rita and Merrill, was when our families lived in Cocoa, FL, one night at the Lowe home Rita pulled out a dresser drawer for me to sleep. I heard this story all of the time.
