Robert Eugene Hawkins' Obituary
Robert Eugene Hawkins, 79, passed away on March 19, 2011. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Hawkins; and parents, George and Leo Hawkins. Bob is survived by his devoted friend and companion, Janie Gonzales; sons, George W. Hawkins, John K. Hawkins, Allen R. Hawkins and his wife Karen; daughter, Connie McNeill and her husband, Eddie; grandchildren, Ricky Sharp, Travis McNeill, John McNeill, Jonathan Hawkins, and Elizabeth Hawkins; great grandchild Joshua Sharp; niece, Angel McShane; nephew, Michael Blass; as well as a host of many other family and friends.
Bob served in the Navy at 16, then the Merchant Marines and finally in the Coast Guard. He was a very proud veteran and a proud American. Bob was one of those individuals that never met a stranger. Out of respect, he referred to every lady as “Pretty Lady.” Bob enjoyed a cold beer with his friends at Sheffields and Ken’s Ice House for many years. Bob was known to many of his friends as “Wolfman” and his grandchildren affectionately referred to him as “Poppa Wolf.” Bob will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
A visitation for Bob will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 from 6 to 8 pm at Clayton Funeral Home at 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581. Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Houston National Cemetery at 9:30 am.
