Ragsdale, age 82, passed away peacefully at home on May 14. Robert was born in Crockett, Texas to Texas House of Representative/Army Lt. Bailey and Minnie Eva Ragsdale. Dr. Ragsdale is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his college sweetheart and loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy Ragsdale; daughter Dr. Sally Landon and her husband Scott Landon, sons Charles and Brian, grandson, Joe Meyer and sister, Dr. Frances Brock and numerous nieces and nephews.Dr. Ragsdale graduated from Lamar University and was a proud member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He was accepted and graduated from The University of Texas Dental Branch where he was a member of the Xi Psi Phi dental fraternity and was awarded with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. After dental school graduation, he was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and proudly served with distinction. He was honorably discharged as Captain and moved to Pearland, Texas to set up practice with family friend, Dr. Freddy Cessac. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Ragsdale opened the first dental practice in Friendswood and enjoyed a long and successful 45 year career serving the community.Dr. Ragsdale’s favorite pastimes in life were attending Houston Oiler games with his wife, family and friends, gardening, collecting classic cars, spending time at the family country home and most importantly, spending quality time with his family.Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made in the name of Dr. Robert Ragsdale to The 100 Club of Pearland (PO Box 100, Pearland, TX 77588) or America’s VetDogs.org.We would like to offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to the amazing clinical care: Dr. Diana Alves, Dr. BT Turakhia, Dr. Aziza Sarker and beloved Nurse Sheila Grimes.A celebration of life service for Dr. Robert Ragsdale will be held at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581, on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 11:00 am.
