Robert Michael Smith's Obituary
Robert Michael “Mike” Smith was born on September 27, 1945, in Houston, Texas, and passed away in Houston on Wednesday, November 26th, 2025, at the age of 80. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Gladys Smith, and his brother, Edward Smith Jr. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 56 years, Linda Smith; sons, Matthew Smith and Jason Smith (wife Amy); grandchildren, Sara Buxton (husband Hunter), Nolan Smith, Mattisen Smith, and Mason Smith; great-grandchildren, Blake Renee and Blaire Grace Parker Buxton; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Mike was a devoted husband, father, and provider, and a Godly man of unwavering faith. He was a Staff Sargent in the United States Air Force and a Vietnam War veteran. A brilliantly creative and self-taught engineer, Mike had an exceptional mechanical mind and could repair nearly anything electrical or mechanical. He also carried a strong entrepreneurial spirit that led to building a respected career marked by determination. His inventive mind led him to develop several original ideas over the years, resulting in multiple patents. His legacy of ingenuity reflected his curiosity and problem-solving drive.
Known for his generosity, Mike was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services for Robert Michael Smith will be held at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland on Friday, December 5th, 2025. His family will receive guests for visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place the next day, Saturday, December 6th, 2025, at Millers Creek Cemetery in Johnson City, Texas, at 1:00 p.m.
