Sammi was the living example of John Quincy Adam's response of "why are you doing what you are doing?" with "Duty is ours, results belong to God." Sammi was concerned and lived what she could "do" for our nation. She was an encourager, a motivator and often a warrior behind the scenes in prayer and devotion. I recall speaking to her just before her surgery and her telling me about her visit from the hospital chaplain and him asking how he could pray for her and she responded, "pray that I will understand how God will use me through this experience." Sammi has etched the ground and the lives she encountered with the zeal and cause of liberty and those seeds will not soon be overshadowed with the results of others that she paid for the same as the patriots that came before her. I am blessed to have encountered Sammi in my life and I, my family and our nation will be the better for it. In Texas, everything is said to be bigger. Sammi is no exception and we as Texas COS are proud that Sammi received the very first Sammi Hammers Legacy Award for Vision, Humility, Service, Devotion and Faith based on Proverbs 3:6 and pray those that come after will be worthy to receive the same. Rest well my beloved friend until we meet again.
