Samuel "Sam" Hovanes Sahagian's Obituary
Samuel Sahagian was born January 25, 1957 in Diyarbekir, Turkey. Sam loved Jesus more than anything in this world and on Thursday, September 23rd, he went on to meet his Creator face to face. Sam was devoted to his first love, Lorig, for over 45 years; a compassionate, generous father to his four children, Sammy, Seelva, Steve, and Seta; and a fun, adventurous Haga to his grandchildren Myla, Ace, Lily, and Leeland. He was a proud son of Hovanes and Oustian, as well as a source of friendship, wisdom, and guidance to his brother, sisters, and many nieces and nephews. However, Sam’s legacy also includes hundreds of individuals to whom he became a close friend, confidant, or spiritual guide and for some even the equivalent of a father or brother. While his spirit is gone, the faith he shared and taught will be remembered by the lives he impacted and the people who were privileged to share in his love.
Samuel is preceded in death by his father Hovanes Sahagian; and mother Oustian Kuyoncu Sahagian. Left to cherish Samuel’s memory are his loving wife, of 41 years, Lorig Sahagian; sons Sammy Sahagian, Steve Sahagian; daughters Seelva White and husband, Justin, Seta Sahagian; brother Jack Sahagian and wife Luciné; sisters Siran Allahverdian and husband, Serojh, Elise Barrett and husband, Jeff, Lucy Berberian and husband, David, Jackie Matusek and husband, Dennis; grandchildren Myla, Ace, Lily, Leeland; sixteen nieces and nephews; and one grandnephew.
Due to the National Cemetery guidelines, only a limited number of flower arrangements are allowed. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Samuel’s Go Fund Me page.
Services for Samuel will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas. The family has made a mandatory mask request. A Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 – 11:30 am. A Celebration of Life for Samuel will be held at 11:30 am. The service will also be available by live stream. Due to limited space at the burial site, a private Interment will follow at 2:00 pm, at the Houston Nation Cemetery, in Houston, Texas.
