Sergio Rodriguez's Obituary
Sergio Rodriguez passed away on Monday, May 11th, 2026, at the age of 54, after a courageous battle with cancer. True to who he was, he fought with strength and determination and never gave up. Throughout his treatment he formed meaningful bonds with the doctors, nurses, and staff who cared for him, as well as with fellow patients walking the same difficult road. Some who went before him, and others who continue to fight. Sergio’s resilience, kindness, and spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
A loving and caring husband, father, son, and brother, Sergio devoted himself wholeheartedly to the people he loved. He welcomed family, friends, and guests into his home with an easy smile and a warm heart, always ready to lend a hand and willing to go above and beyond to help in any way he could. Sergio had a gift for making ordinary moments feel special. He made every gathering more interesting and fun. Whether it was the cake, spontaneous water fights, or the playful pranks that kept everyone laughing. He loved music and brought that joy into the rhythms of everyday life, creating memories that his family and friends will carry with them always.
Sergio found happiness in the simple things, especially fishing, and he cherished the time spent sharing his love of anime with his daughters. Weekends often began with Sergio making breakfast for the family, and evenings frequently ended with him at the grill. These traditions were more than meals; they were expressions of his care, his pride, and his deep commitment to being present.
Extremely responsible and hardworking, Sergio continued to work until he was physically unable to do so. His perseverance and dedication reflected the way he lived his entire life; showing up, caring deeply, and putting others first. Sergio’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.
Sergio is preceded in death by his brother, Abel Rodriguez. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Jose Rodriguez and Julia De Lira; wife, Brenda Velazquez Garcia; son, Nikolas Rodriguez; daughters, Desarey Mudge and husband Jesse, Brianna Rodriguez, and Melanie Rodriguez; brother, Juan Rodriguez; sisters, Rose Sanchez, Julia Rodriguez, and Lydia Orozo; grandchild, Eliana; and a host of many other family and friends.
