View Tribute Book Shelly Raye Jenkins, was born October 21, 1959 and passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019. Shelly was born into a family of 7 children, where she formed her ability to nurture and care for the people around her. Everyone who crossed her path was taken by the sparkle in her eyes, her positive attitude and unending desire to love and serve others. Shelly was a good listener and was wise beyond her years.Shelly was a proud Aggie that graduated from Texas A & M in 1983. She believed education was extremely important and taught in Alvin ISD for 17 years. After retirement, she continued to shape young minds tutoring students. Shelly was strong in her faith and was passionate about God, family, children and pets. She had a double lung transplant in 2013 and continued to live a life filled with much joy and contentment. Shelly lived in gratitude for each day and expressed how blessed she was, no matter the circumstance.Shelly had a special gift for making everyone she met feel special and her smile would always light up a room. She was the “go-to-person” in the family and her generosity towards others in need was felt far and wide. Shelly lived a “Christ-like” life and she certainly heard the words, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.” She was extremely excited to learn that she would soon be a grandmother and had already declared that she would be known as “GamGam.” Shelly will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She will forever be referred to as “The sweetest person I know”.She is preceded in death by her father, Milton Vance West Jr. Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Wanda West; her loving husband of 36 years, Matt Jenkins; sons, Clayton Jenkins and wife, Jessica, Travis Jenkins and wife, Joslyn; brothers, Bud West and wife, Brenda, George West and wife, Joan, twin brother, Tracy West, David West and wife, Beth; sisters, Debbie Schultz and husband, Rich, and Becky Hudson; with one grandchild on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other family and dear friends.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shelly’s honor to the Scleroderma Research Foundation at https://srfcure.org. Services for Shelly will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The Visitation will begin at 9:00 am and the Memorial service will follow at 10:00 am with Pastor Rick Stafford officiating. Inurnment will follow the memorial service at Alvin Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.
