Susaimanickam Chinnappan's Obituary
Susaimanickam Chinnappan passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family in Houston, Texas. Born in India, Susai lived a remarkably generous, fruitful, and faith-filled life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sabeena Manickam; his brother, Fr. Terry; and his devoted children: son Rojesh and wife, Annette Caszo; daughter Christina and husband Regy Varghese; daughter Dr. Bibiana and husband Tyler Brownell. He also leaves behind a large, loving extended family across India, Australia, and the United States.
Susai dedicated 40 years of his professional life as an accountant at Bharat Gold Mines Limited in Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), known as the Little England of India. Renowned for his work ethic and dedication, he managed 1,000 employees who deeply respected and loved him. Susai looked after his staff as if they were his own family, always extending a helping hand to those in need.
A deeply pious and devout Catholic, Susai attended Mass daily and took great comfort in praying the Rosary. His faith moved him to be actively involved in parish ministry, including his instrumental role in building the beautiful Shrine of the Mother of Mines in KGF in 1971. Recognizing his immense generosity and leadership, he was also appointed as a trustee of the Sons of Divine Providence in India. His devotion to God reflected in the way he lived and served others.
Though a man of few words in daily life, Susai was a gifted public speaker and a passionate teacher. He found great joy in reading and was an enthusiastic sports fan, with a special love for cricket and tennis. Among the many joys in his life were the family's cherished dogs, Jimmy, Charlie and Caesar, whom he loved dearly.
In his later years, he moved to United States of America to be closer to his children. He quickly adapted to his new home, spending his remaining years living a prayerful, and serene life. His wisdom, humility and thoughtful guidance left a lasting impact on many lives.
Susai will be remembered as an obedient son, a loving husband, a caring father, a beloved brother, loyal friend and an inspiring mentor to everyone who crossed his path. His legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
