Susan and I met when she served on the Board of Directors for the Pearland Economic Development. She was always an advocate for enhancing the growth and development of Pearland. I remember her encouraging the building of the McHard overpass. Many people called it the overpass to nowhere. Not Susan! She had faith it go all the way through some day. And it has! She was a visionary for the future.
I really got to know Susan when she became founding member of Women in Leadership. We worked together for years serving single mothers. You could always count on Susan to volunteer with her gifts, talents and service.
When the Northern Brazoria County Education Alliance (NBCEA) was founded in 2007, Susan, being an educator, stepped up and became a strong advocate and friend to the NBCEA. Again, she gave generously to help NBCEA fund scholarships and purchase equipment and consumables needed in the high schools.
I had the honor of being Susan's guest when she was awarded as an Outstanding Alumni at Sam Houston University. What an honor to be included with her family as she was presented her award. So very deserving.
Her family and Pearland have lost and amazing woman. I send my love and prayers to all of them.
