Tabitha had the uncanny ability to make you laugh, no matter what kind of day you were having, even at xon!
Tabitha Carter was gifted to me by her husband Darrel Carter- whom I've known since kindergarten. Facebook made us instantly feel connected although we didn't know each other. I remember the day Darrell posted on FB for prayers and instantly trying to make sure she was coming to MD Anderson for treatment. It was there that we first met and became "instant bff's " as Tabi would later term. The moment we met- it's like we knew each other for all our life. each time she was admitted she would reach out, so her internal "body guard" could check on her.
Each visit usually started with me bringing her Favorite Vanilla Frap with extra espresso and a bannana bread from Starbucks. Each visit I got to know her more.
Tabi instantly opened up about her fears, her worries, her children, the love she had for Darrell and how supportive he was during her journey. (although a difficult one-many people don't understand truly what women go through with that diagnosis). Tabi also spent alot of time being open about her past, her regrets younger in life, and how Jesus spoke to her and turned many things in her life around for the better after her diagnosis. She knew him and she found many blessings to be grateful for despite her diagnosis.
Tabi is a warrior. And this was validated day in and day out with her courgeous fight. She is a mamma bear to all of her children and her family and she loved you all immensely.
she left this earth with strength and dignity.
For her family and friends I will leave you with my favorite passage :
I give you this one thought to keep.
I am with you still. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on the snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone.
I am with you still in each new dawn.

Q: What will you miss most about Tabitha?
A: Tabitha was my little squirrel growing up. Her contagious laughter and smile will truly be missed. Until I see you again, love you always. ~ Jessica
Tabi was one of a kind! Pictured is her with Trulee Alysabeth, when we brought her home from the hospital in 2012. She helped me out so much postpartum and I’ll forever be grateful. She even taught me to make the French fried onion chicken strips I make regularly, and it’s one of Tru’s and Karston’s favorite things to eat! She is loved and will be deeply missed! I’m so sorry for y’all’s loss.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time. Love, Your ONEOK family
