Troy Keith Tinney's Obituary
Troy Keith Tinney, 42, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the age of 42.
Biography:
Troy was born on April 1, 1984, in San Angelo, Texas.
He proudly served as a First Responder (Fireman/Rescue) and worked as a machinist for ExxonMobil. In both roles, he was a natural leader, especially on the fire team, and was deeply committed to protecting and helping others. Serving people wasn’t just something Troy did; it was who he was.
Those who truly knew Troy understood the depth of his heart. He had a quiet, steady way of showing up for people, no matter the season of life or the kind of day you were having. He would meet you with encouragement, lift your spirits with his humor, or care for you with a home-cooked meal made with love. His generosity knew no bounds. For his beloved nieces and nephews, it often came with a smile and a wad of cash, but for everyone else, it was his time, his kindness, and his willingness to give without hesitation. The phrase “he’d give you the shirt off his back” was not just a saying—it was a reflection of how Troy lived every day.
He found joy in many things, serving alongside his fire team, exploring the ocean, hiking the beauty of the countryside, riding his motorcycle, and cooking for the people he loved. Recently, he embraced marathon and ultra running, a passion that brought him purpose and renewed energy. Above all, Troy treasured time with his family. He had a rare gift for lighting up a room, filling it with laughter, comfort, and a quiet sense of peace that made everyone around him feel at home.
In difficult moments, Troy would often say, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” These words now serve as a gentle reminder as we navigate life without him, taking each step forward, one moment at a time, while carrying the weight of this loss.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Troy is now at peace, free from the burdens of this world. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched. We honor him by continuing his example through small acts of kindness, generosity, and love for others.
Matthew 11:28:
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
