Dear Whitaker family, we have known your mom and dad since the 1950’s through the Schneider’s, Bill and Mary (both deceased). Bill was with the U. H. Faculty also.
The times that we saw and visited with Tommy and Velma were especially few, but we distinctly remember those times very vividly. What a pleasure.
What stands out so clearly was we think in 1952, when the six of us traveled to Austin to watch a football team that thought it could beat the Cougars (we were still called “Cougar High” then), and they did sort of beat up on us that one time. But not so great a highlight that Saturday afternoon was when the elements just opened upon us there in those stands. As water washed down those bleachers, and rushed around us, it formed a river right under our feet; we were soaked good. Thereafter each time we would meet up, we would always have a good laugh about this together.
So just remember to Capture your Memories. So very sorry for your loss.
