Long-time Sweetwater elementary school teacher, Verona Jim Younger, 99, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012. Mrs. Younger spent most of her adult life in Sweetwater and began her Sweetwater ISD career at East Ward School (Phi Read Obituary
Mrs. Younger was my wife's teacher in the 1955-1956 school year. This was the first grade in East Ridge Elementary. My wife's name was Glenna Riggan. We still have the 1st day of school certifcate from that year. It was signed by Mrs. Younger.
My condolences to my first grade teacher way back in 1960. I still think of her and the other influces I was afforted at East Ridge Elementary.

WOW-There isn’t enough space to express my feelings for this INCREDIBLE lady. She was my 2nd grade teacher and she ABSOLUTELY was an angel. She had the most beautiful printing of ANYONE I have ever seen. They didn’t get any better than Mrs. Younger as a teacher. How blessed I was to have had her, as did both of my older brothers.

Mrs. Younger was my first teacher at Philip Nolan Elementary School in Sweetwater, Texas. She also taught my brother Gary at East Ridge Elementary School. She was an excellent who cared about her students. Mrs. was my teacher in 1950. My condolences and prayers to her family.
Mrs. Younger started many students on the road to success with her smile and calm spirit. She taught me in the 1st grade in 1959, but the Youngers also were neighbors of mine for many years. We enjoyed many visits while they were working in the yard on Lakeview Drive in Sweetwater.
