View Tribute Book Wayne Alan Sweeney was born February 6, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas, to Gilbert and Martha Sweeney, and passed away Monday, August 7, 2023, in Pearland, Texas.Wayne attended Central Catholic High School in San Antonio, where he was a member of the ROTC and graduated from in 1962. Following high school, he went to St. Mary’s University where he continued ROTC and graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 1966. Wayne entered the United States Army in 1966 as a reserve commissioned officer. After fulfilling his military obligation, he went to work for AT&T in 1969. Wayne retired in 1991. In his spare time, Wayne was an avid baseball and golf fan, and he also enjoyed listening to music and attending concerts. He loved supporting his children and granddaughter in all their school activities. In retirement, Wayne continued his love of photography and took to traveling, both domestic and internationally, with a retirement friend, documenting wonderful photos along the way. He was able to photograph the Berlin wall after it fell in 1990. He enjoyed visiting his daughter and attending baseball games in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Throughout retirement, Wayne enjoyed playing golf and attending and photographing numerous baseball games and golf tournaments as well. He cherished his granddaughter dearly and supported her playing softball and singing throughout the years. In his later years, he enjoyed watching classic movies, train videos, and baseball games. Wayne will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Martha Sweeney. He is survived by his son, David Alan Sweeney; daughter Michele Ann Sweeney; and granddaughter Jessica Marie Sweeney.A private family graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, on Monday, August 14th, at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, in San Antonio, Texas.
