Wiley Terrell Flowers' Obituary
Wiley Terrell Flowers, Sr. was born May 14, 1926 to George W. and Deleta Holland Flowers. He died January 22, 2006 at home in Pearland, Texas after a long illness.
Mr. Flowers enlisted in the U. S. Navy at the age of 16 for active duty in World War II for three years. He graduated from Sul Ross College, Alpine, Texas in 1952 with B.A. and M.A. degrees. After 51 years of service teaching and coaching in athletics, he retired in 2001 as athletic trainer from Houston Independent School District. He loved the outdoors, golf, God’s nature, his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Lamar Flowers; son, Wiley Terrell Flowers, Jr.; daughter, Cynthia K. Flowers Brown; granddaughter, Morgan N. Brown; and sister, Melva Johnston.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas Ave., Houston, with The Very Reverend Joe D. Reynolds and The Reverend John A. Logan, Jr. officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Christ Church Cathedral Endowment Fund.
