Zachary David Kafer's Obituary
Zachary David Kafer, 20, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jerry and Betty Brandemihl; and sister, Jennifer Kafer. Zachary is survived by his adoring parents, Dave and Teresa Kafer; brother, Adam Kafer; grandparents, Lowell and Sara Kafer; and a host of other family and friends.
Zachary grew up in Pearland before his family was transferred to Thailand. It was over the course of his three years there that he developed his love of traveling and made many long lasting friendships. Zachary loved playing ice hockey and many other sports throughout his life. He loved spending time with his family and cherished getting to spend holidays together. Zachary was a 2013 graduate of Pearland High School. He was attending his third year at Texas Tech University in Lubbock where he was completing his degree in Civil Engineering. When he wasn’t in class he enjoyed spending time with his friends and his trusted dog, “Rambo”. Zachary will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Zachary’s honor to a memorial scholarship that has been established in his name. The scholarship is called the Zachary Kafer Memorial Scholarship Fund and will be awarded every year to an undergraduate student attending Texas Tech University enrolled in the Whitacre College of Engineering. A visitation for Zachary will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral service will take place Friday, January 22, 2016 at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church – Pearland at 2314 N. Grand Blvd., Pearland, Texas 77581 with Rev. Dr. Keith Whitaker officiating.
