He is preceded in death Carl L. and Jessie Mae Self, Sr.; and brother, Neal Self. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Martha Self; sons, Carl L. Self III and wife, Lynda; Lance R. Self, Donnie A. Shepperd and wife, Tracey; brother, Curtis W. Self; grandsons, Jason R. Hartley and wife, Jordan, Eric Betts; and a host of other family and dear friends. Carl was a proud American that served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He was an excellent provider for his family and worked for over 39 years at Simpson and Champion Paper Company. Carl was strong in his faith and an active member of Christ Redeemer Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the outdoors; always hunting, fishing, working in the yard or building things in his garage. Carl had a great life surrounded by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carl’s memory to Christ Redeemer Lutheran Church. A Memorial Service for Carl will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11:00 am at Christ Redeemer Lutheran Church, 8909 Spencer Hwy., La Porte, Texas 77571. So please come and join us in remebering a great husband and father. Most of all a great human being he was to all.As I always said to him,"See you Later".
