Claudia Irma Ponder's Obituary
Claudia Irma Mokry Ponder, 90, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Lilly Mokry; her loving husband of 60 years, George Ponder; son, Russell Alan Ponder; and brother, Louis Joe Mokry. Claudia is survived by her son, Roger Alan Ponder and wife, Janna; daughter, Paris Dawn Buchanan and husband, Sammie Don; sisters, Margaret Harrell, Carmen Gruesen and husband, Marvin, Libby Davis; grandchildren, Travis Ponder, Rae Buchanan, Tyler Ponder and wife, Adrienne, Taylor Ponder; and a host of other family and friends.
Claudia grew up in and around the Austin area before moving to Corpus Christi in 1948, where she spent most of her life raising her children. She enjoyed saltwater fishing with George and the children and quickly became the best fisherman in the family. Claudia and George enjoyed bowling for more than 25 years and could still bowl a 175 well in to her late 70s. She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing scrabble. Claudia was affectionately known as “Grandma Claudia” to all her grandchildren and she loved every opportunity she had to spend time with them. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
