Gary Deitcher's Obituary
Gary Deitcher, 75, long-time resident of Manvel, TX passed away on May 8, 2026. He was born on February 9, 1951, in Danville, Illinois.
He was in the Navy from January 1973 through January 1978. He was a Bosun Mate with the Tiger Team during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and a member of the American Legion China Post 1.
He has been a member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) since 1996. He was Chairman of the Membership Committee from 2009 through 2011 and served 26 years on the Committee. He was also a member of the School Art Auction Committee for 17 years. He was a HLSR Director for 12 years and a HLSR Lifetime Director for 5 years. Gary was an advocate for HLSR and their mantra “For the Kids”, helping 70+ students receive scholarships for higher learning.
Gary was a “Jack of all trades” and a modern day MacGyver. He also did numerous volunteer activities in the Community, ie. Volunteer EMT, Volunteer Firefighter, Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy & Fredericka Deitcher, and his brother, Michael Deitcher. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cheryl Deitcher, and his sister, Shirley Coones & her husband, Toby Coones, and various nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for June.
