View Tribute Book John Wallace Scardino passed away on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, at the age of 85. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Clara Belle (Rappolo) Scardino. John leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Paula (Block) Scardino; sons, Anthony Scardino, Scott Soland and wife Dawn, Ryan Soland and wife Kristi, Scott Scardino and wife Gayla; daughters, Karla Langston and husband Todd, and Kim Taylor and husband Gerard; sister, Sharon Rankin; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren, with two more on the way; and a host of many other family and friends.John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who worked hard his entire life to provide for his family. You would often see John with a cigar and his trademark grin on his face, especially when he was spending time with his family. Back in the day he was known as “Squatty Body”, but he was most proud of the title “Paw Paw”. John was a friendly, civic minded, man who never met a stranger and was once named Citizen of the Year by the Pearland Chamber of Commerce. He was also named a Lifetime honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. John enjoyed a successful career with Kiwi Shoe Polish company for over 30 years until his retirement. After retiring, John worked at Koza’s in Pearland for another 10 years. In his spare time, John enjoyed playing poker, traveling to Lake Tahoe with Paula, and playing Santa in the Pearland Christmas parade; an honor he enjoyed for many years. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.A Funeral Mass will be held for John at St. Helen Catholic Church in Pearland, Texas, on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024. John’s family will begin receiving guests at 10:00 am, with the Mass commencing at 11:00 am. Interment will follow the service at South Park cemetery.
