View Tribute Book Karen Ann Lowery, of Pearland, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents Eileen Niedenthal and Kenneth Perry, and husband Robert “Bob” Walter. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Steve Lowery, Russel Lowery, Robert Walter and wife Alicia; daughters, Kelley Lunsford and husband Kenny, Rhonda Hicks; sisters, Linda Hinshaw, Sandi Perry, Pattie Nelson and husband Dean, Michele Denihan, Lina Hawkins and husband Doug, Denise Stevens and husband Mark, Kenlin Perry; 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of many other family and dear friends.Karen was 73 years young when God took her home to be with the love of her life and husband of 30 years, Bob Walter. She excelled at any endeavor she put her head to. She had a thirst for knowledge, had many college degrees, and was a professor at the college for many years. Karen was one of the first women police officers in Pearland. She was an active reader and helped open the adult reading center in Pearland and volunteered with them as much as she could. She was an entrepreneur and a member of the American Business Women’s Association. Though she did many wonderful things, Karen took the most pride in her family. She was extremely family oriented and was viewed as a hero in her family. Her sisters say she was a great sister and mother figure in their lives. Karen was an amazing mother, sister, grandmother and wife, and was the glue that held her family together. She was a very honest, generous and loving, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Karen’s honor to the Pearland Adult Reading Center or the charity of your choice.A visitation and funeral mass for Karen will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Road, Pearland, Texas 77581, on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. The family will receive friends for a viewing starting at 9:15 a.m. The funeral mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Father Jim Courville. Interment at SouthPark Cemetery to follow. The Lowery family would like to welcome everyone to a reception at St. Helen Catholic Church after the graveside.
