Linda Ann Cejka's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of Linda Ann Cejka devoted family member, friend and colleague who dedicated herself to beauty and creativity in all its forms. Her life reflected grace, generosity, fierce optimism and a life long curiosity to learn and create.
Linda was blessed into a loving and caring family that was the source of unconditional love, kindness, and generosity created and nurtured by her loving parents Abdon and Elda Cejka. She adored her two siblings Nell Warrender and Stan Cejka in addition to her brother in law Jonathan Warrender and sister in law Cyndi Cejka, many cousins, aunts and uncles. Linda’s most valued role was being an Aunt to her nieces Jordan Martinez, Lily Cejka and Kitty Cejka and nephews Justin Warrender and Jarod Warrender. She took great joy in investing her time and energy into knowing and learning about their interests in order to be present and actively participate in their lives and nurture their own curiosity and development.
Linda was a person of faith. She grew up in the Catholic church and for years she was a cantor leading the congregation in worship. She had a natural gift for singing and she said it always made her feel close to God with whom she had a personal relationship. Even through the last few years of dealing with different health challenges, she continued to know that God was in control. Her positivity and amazing attitude in the midst of these challenges was an inspiration to everyone who knew her.
Linda’s passion and curiosity for learning led her to earn a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from Our Lady of the Lake University and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a Psychology minor from The University of Texas at Austin. Her love of travel was also inspired by her curiosity to learn and experience new places and cultures. Her favorite place to be was on the beach which always inspired her creativity blending her love of nature, vibrant colors, and the calm of the waves.
Linda worked for School Tours of America for multiple decades drawing on her passion for enriching young minds and giving them meaningful experiences. She worked in almost all of the departments of the company. For the majority of the time she was a Tour Coordinator for schools. Linda loved the idea of opening up the world to students, ensuring they had opportunities to explore beyond the classroom.
But above all, Linda was drawn to beauty—not just in the artistic sense, but in the way beauty could bring people together and restore the soul. This passion was lovingly passed down from her mother, who taught her to see and celebrate the beauty in everything. Linda’s talents and interests spanned all art forms and genres including singing, to being the Co-Founder, Chairman and Director of Hallet Oak Foundation, creating educational videos for the Smithsonian, writing novels, painting, making jewelry, sewing and so much more. Through her arts advocacy, Linda developed programs securing grants, launching community projects, and offering hands-on opportunities in areas that often went without.
Linda’s compassion and care also extended to animals which was inspired and nurtured by her father who grew up on a farm and passed his love of animals and nature on to Linda. She was at her happiest on the farm she shared with her father, loving and caring for her beloved donkeys, cows, chickens, ducks, and pigs which of course she considered to be her pets. Linda cherished her cat Goldie who was a constant companion and provided Linda with unconditional love and support.
