Maria Theresa "Sweet Marie" Del Prete's Obituary
Maria Theresa Del Prete, 51, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017. She is preceded in death by her father, Ralph J. Del Prete. Maria is survived by her mother, Antonia Del Prete; husband, Jay Hooks; daughter, Melody Szekely; and sisters, Cindy Del Prete and Carmella Jean Stuckenburg and husband Bob; and a host of other family and dear friends.
“Sweet Marie” as she was fondly known, had a heart of gold and spread love and happiness everywhere she went with her infectious smile and big hugs. She was young at heart, never lost touch with her inner child, and often took pleasure in being goofy or silly. Maria lived a life of adventure, fun, and excitement and was always ready to experience new places and things. She developed a natural talent while learning to play the bass. She was passionate and loved traveling and performing on stage with her husband and his blues rock band. Her life was fulfilled by playing bass and she will now be “Jammin’ in Heaven”. Maria was an amazing daughter, wife, mother and friend that supported and encouraged everyone in her circle. She found some of her greatest joy in helping others to learn, grow and have fun. Maria was a stunningly beautiful woman who enriched the lives of all with love and kindness and will be missed by all who knew her.
Services for Maria will be held Friday, April 7, 2017 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will be held at 12:00 pm with the funeral service following at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland, Texas.
