Tanisha Savithri Reddy Dereddi's Obituary
Tanisha is like a devi, a beautiful force of nature, born on January 28, 2005, having graced this world with her deep love, compassion, and humanity. Her spirituality grounded her deeply, giving her a quiet strength.
She was born in India and carried her Telugu culture close to her heart, living an expansive life across England and Australia before settling in the United States. Her unwavering sense of justice and instinct to stand up for those who needed a voice drew her to UT Austin, where she studied sociology on a pre-law track, a path that aligned with her values.
Tanisha's love is boundless and fiercely felt. Her devotion to her parents showed in the way she recounted their strength and sacrifices with deep gratitude. She is the love of their lives, a loving daughter, protective elder sister, caring granddaughter, adorable niece, and unyielding friend, someone whose emotional expressiveness had the ability to make the people around her feel truly seen. She would tease her younger sister, Rea, calling her Tiki with the kind of love only an elder sister knows, and she accepted all of her loved ones exactly as they were, one of her most powerful strengths. That same depth of feeling poured into her strong, creative soul and the beautiful poetry that captured her inner world.
Tanisha met life with the full force of her personality, her presence impossible to miss. She is effortlessly funny, fashionable, and expressed artistry through makeup, her Indian culture and jewelry, with a love for music that filled every space she was in. She brought that inspired intention to everything, from the grandest dream to the smallest pleasure. Her delights varied from Dubai chocolate to Chick-fil-A, and her affinity for characters like Toothless the Nightfury and Scooby-Doo revealed the playful, warm heart beneath her strength.
Her spirit came alive near water, and those familiar best knew she is a mermaid at heart. Tanisha had a profound love for the ocean, swimming and diving with an ease that looked like a form of natural art. Her fondness for living beings ran just as deep, from her dogs Honey and Hustle that she cherished as her babies, to the stray she rescued off the streets, to the whale sharks she swam alongside. That tenderness toward every living thing is simply who she is.
Tanisha is survived by those who loved her as fiercely as she loved them, her parents Raja Reddy and Pavithra Bora, her sister Rea Dereddi, her grandparents, her god mothers, her extended family and cherished friends, who will carry her beauty, her words of affirmation and immense expression, and her unshakeable courage with them always.
